After a good night's sleep, there's nothing to kill your calm, rested mood like a cluttered bathroom counter. My small countertop is full of everything, including tangled toothbrush cables and various hair appliances. As I unplug one cord to plug in another, I think to myself — say it with me now! — "There's got to be a better way." Well, there is. The Mifaso Wall Outlet Extender not only allows all of the corded appliances in my bathroom to remain plugged in, but clears some much-needed counter space. And it's on sale for only $10.

A multifunctional power hub, this surge protector has six AC outlets, two USB-A charging ports and a USB-C charging port — but the best part is the shelf.

Outlet extenders are convenient and efficient. I have more than a half dozen of them scattered throughout my home. In general, most offer the same features — multiple plugs, USB charging — and come in around the same price point, but the Mifaso has utility others don't: a shelf! And who can resist a discount of almost 50%?

For a long time, I've been thinking about getting an outlet extender to make sense of the mess of cords in my bathroom, but I had yet to find one that really solves the problem — until the Mifaso Wall Outlet Extender. It has six AC outlets, two USB-A charging ports and one USB-C port. That means I can charge my phone while I'm in the shower (the perfect solution to doom-scrolling when I should be washing up), charge my razor, juice up two electric toothbrushes and plug in my water flosser, all at the same time.

The extender and the shelf are two separate pieces. They plug in and come together on the wall easily. To keep them neat, there are also notches on the sides and a cutout in the middle of the shelf to corral the cables. If you're concerned about your device sliding onto the floor, don't worry — it's got a handy nonslip surface to keep things in place.

The extender itself features a 490-Joule surge-protection rating — that's ideal for small devices and will keep them safe during voltage spikes (for perspective: power tools need a rating of 1,000+ Joules). It means I can plug in my hair dryer without worrying.

Over 7,000 reviewers find this little gadget useful, giving it a five-star rating. In fact, shoppers snapped up more than 10,000 of these extenders in the past month.

"We only have one easily accessible outlet in our kitchen, so getting this has made things much easier!" gushed a fan. "I can have the coffee maker plugged in and we can both charge our phones at once. The little shelf is super helpful and I love the nonslip surface on it. It was also quick and easy to install."

"Great for tight space," wrote a doting mother. "I bought this for my son's college apartment and it's great. [The] bathroom had a pedestal sink and four guys who all use electric toothbrushes. This comfortably fits all four brush bases."

"I ordered this for two reasons," said a third shopper. "One, to add more outlets in my bathroom as I sometimes needed to charge my toothbrush and use my hair blower and my current setup didn't allow for both to be plugged at the same time. I then saw that it came with a shelf, which has added just a small bit of extra space near my small sink area. I use it to take off my earrings, or for my eye creams. Anything small but nothing large. It's a great space-saver."

While it's hard to find fault in a $10 gadget that provides so much utility, this outlet extender isn't perfect. For instance, some users found that certain plugs covered up multiple outlets. "I only needed four of the six power plugs which is fine for now, but leaves no room for two more power plugs. The face plate is just a little too small to allow full usage," cautioned one four-star reviewer. "The cable slots [are] a little too narrow for the average equipment power cords. However, at this price point, it will do nicely."

A final reviewer wished that the Mifaso was able to fit more styles of outlets, stating that it's "handy with a shelf but it will not fit on a GFI outlet."
