Cable work continues on Veterans Memorial Bridge

Work continues on the Veterans Memorial Bridge.

After a renovation project last month, crews then went in to conduct a hands-on inspection to check individual cables. This has caused further delays on the bridge.

Upon investigation, crews discovered a cable will need repaired and replaced and will necessitate a closure in the right eastbound lane. The lane will be closed until the cable can be repaired or replaced.

Officials are unsure when the lanes will reopen. They advise drivers to continue being cautious when driving over the bridge.

Crews are also working on another project on U.S. 22 just east of the bridge, which is causing lane closures in both directions.
